Dr Kathryn Hart PhD BSc (Hons) RD
After completing my practical dietetic training in Liverpool I graduated in 1999 from the University of Surrey with a first class honours degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.
My first dietetic post was at St Mary's Hospital on the Isle of Wight after which I worked part time in outpatient clinics for Portsmouth NHS Trust whilst completing a PhD at the University of Surrey. My research focused on the eating habits of primary school children and I worked closely with both children and their parents to investigate the best methods for improving the diets of young families.
In addition to my role as practising dietitian for ExpertEating I am employed as a Lecturer in Nutrition Dietetics at the University of Surrey. Here my responsibilities include teaching at Undergraduate and Masters level across a range of dietetic topics, including dietary management of coronary heart disease and factors affecting food choice, and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research students.
I am particularly interested in gastrointestinal conditions, including irritable bowel syndrome and food intolerances, and working with children and their families.
